What! No Green?
In the line at the store, the cashier told the older woman that she should bring her own grocery bag because plastic bags weren’t good for the environment. The woman apologized to him and explained, “We didn’t have the green thing back in my day.” The clerk responded, “That’s our problem today. The former generation did not care enough to save our environment. He was right, that generation didn’t have the green thing in its day.
Back then, they returned their milk bottles, soda bottles and beer bottles to the store. The store sent them back to the plant to be washed and sterilized and refilled, so it could use the same bottles over and over.
So they really were recycled.
But they didn’t have the green thing back in that customer’s day.
In her day, they walked up stairs, because they didn’t have an escalator in every store and office building. They walked to the grocery store and didn’t climb into a 300-horsepower machine every time they had to go two blocks.
But she was right. They didn’t have the green thing in her day.
Back then, they washed the baby’s diapers because they didn’t have the throw-away kind. They dried clothes on a line, not in an energy gobbling machine burning up 220 volts – wind and solar power really did dry the clothes. Kids got hand-me-down clothes from their brothers or sisters, not always brand-new clothing.
But that old lady is right, they didn’t have the green thing back in her day.
Back then, they had one TV, or radio, in the house – not a TV in every room. And the TV had a small screen the size of a handkerchief,
not a screen the size of the state of Montana. In the kitchen, they blended and stirred by hand because they didn’t have electric machines to do everything for you. When they packaged a fragile item to send in the mail, they used a wadded up old newspaper to cushion it, not Styrofoam or plastic bubble wrap. Back then, they didn’t fire up an engine and burn gasoline just to cut the lawn. They used a push mower that ran on human power. They exercised by working so they didn’t need to go to a health club to run on treadmills that operate on electricity.
But she’s right, they didn’t have the green thing back then.
They drank from a fountain when they were thirsty instead of using a cup or a plastic bottle every time they had a drink of water. They refilled their writing pens with ink instead of buying a new pen, and they replaced the razor blades in a razor instead of throwing away the whole razor just because the blade got dull.
But they didn’t have the green thing back then.
Back then, people took the streetcar or a bus and kids rode their bikes to school or walked instead of turning their moms into a 24-hour taxi service. They had one electrical outlet in a room, not an entire bank of sockets to power a dozen appliances. And they didn’t need a computerized gadget to receive a signal beamed from satellites 2,000 miles out in space in order to find the nearest pizza joint. But isn’t it sad that the current generation laments how wasteful the old folks
were just because they didn’t have the green thing back then?

Robbed At Gunpoint
Monday a lady came into our Subway for breakfast because the Subway she normally goes to was closed do to a robbery. She did not have any details. Wednesday I told Eric about it. He got on his phone , found out Clifford street Subway had been robbed early Monday morning at gunpoint. The article was in the newspaper. We better be careful he says.
I Got to Subway Thursday morning and expected a very busy day. Groceries coming and we get a lot of customers as well. I had already set up the register and intent on getting the food all set up in the bane. The door was unlocked, open sign on. I did not hear the door open and was startled when a man with a gun jumped over the counter. We had eye contact. I thought oh no here we go. He said come here, I asked where we going? To the office, he Say’s, as he walked me to the back of the store with gun aimed on me. We do not have one. There is a desk with metal lock box he opened, nothing in there except daily register readings. Wheres the money?
In the register sir. We walk to the front of the store. Open the register, Open it! I opened the register. Open the safe. I can’t sir. Get a bag, hold it open. Don’t look at me! Stop looking at me! I noticed he was even taking the rolled Change. I said, “do you want me to double bag it?” No, If the cops come while I am here I will kill you!!! Go to the back and do not do anything until I am gone! I walked to the back of the store and listened for door to chime, so I would know he had gone. I walked to phone and called 911. Of course once on the phone dispatch started asking me questions. Are you alright? What did he look like? What is he wearing? I was so calm while being robbed, now I am crying and just so emotional. My head is spinning. I call the owner of the store, tell her I been robbed. The police come while I am on phone and I have to hang up. D.J. says I will be right there. I guess I did not sound right on the phone because she said, “who is this Gail?”
Oh my God! Lord, Thank you for protecting me and walking beside me showing me what to do and say. I know the hand of God be upon me this day.
A lady officer was first on the scene and here we go with questions again.
He was black with glasses, we had eye contact and something in his eyes told me, he really did not want to do this. Did he have a hat on? No. A mask that covered all but his eyes. What did the gun look like? What was he wearing? Long sleeve sweater striped like Freddy Cruger. Colors gray and black, long dark pants. Did he wear gloves? I do not know. I mainly noticed the gun. I was calm and did everything he said. I did not want to make this person mad.
We have cameras and after at least 50 tries I was able to access the video. One of the officers helped to find the right spot and a lot of my descriptions were wrong. He is black , but he does have a hat, long pants denim. His mask was white and he does have gloves on. The gun is very, very real though and a automatic. You can watch the video here:

The police did such a wonderful job. I am so thankful for the expert way they
handled this drama. One officer stopped by to see how I was , because he eats
there a few times a week and was concerned. I never knew how much people care until something like this happens. I had phone calls from so many people checking on me. It touches my heart so deeply, I cry every time I think about how wonderful everyone is. The crew at Subway stepped up and took care of business and sent me home. I could not seem to focus and just started crying every time someone hugged me or showed affection. I was not scared to die for I have made peace. And I am now curious as to what happens when we do die. I thank GOD this robbery happened to me, and not to any of the other employees. They are so young and have their lives ahead and do not need this kind of drama to complicate their lives. I say Thank you Lord for keeping customers away while this was happening, so they where not put in harms way.

One thing to note here is that no Republicans voted for this bill.
I agree health care is broken and needs to be fixed, but not behind closed doors with a 2700 page bill that most people have never seen. The process needs to be transparent (Yes he lied again) and agreed to by the American people. Voting on a bill late on a Sunday night and promising things to representatives to pass it is just plain wrong and we as Americans need to put an end to crap like this.

Have You Ever Noticed How Some People Blush When They Are Embarrassed?
Have you ever noticed how some people blush when they are embarrassed? Well I do not blush anymore since this happened. About the only thing more embarrassing would be when President Clinton Lied about Monica and got caught.
About twenty some years ago I got a great chance to go to Hawaii. All I had to pay was my plane fare. Hotel and the rest was covered. Chance of a lifetime. Right?
I had been losing weight and I thought I looked good. I had a swim suit and
some nice clothes and ready to go. I had to fly there and back on my own. The person I was meeting was already there and had their flight plans.
The trip to Hawaii was between four to five hours and was a good trip. I enjoy flying . My favorite is taking off and landing. The rest feels like riding in a car to me. I adore window seats. The sky is so beautiful,the clouds and looking down at the landscape. Going to Hawaii is looking at a lot of water.
The trip is one of the many highlights of my life. Our hotel was on Waikiki
beach on the Island of Honolulu. We went to a luau and ate the most wonderful fresh foods, The tropical plants hanging in my home grow wild here like weeds. The hotel had a bar with a big window looking into the pool. We could watch people swimming under water. The day I was there some young boys would swim up to the glass and moon us. How funny, now I think about it. I am sure back then, I was probably shocked and offended.
Well this is the last night. Fly home in the morning. We are going to eat at
Bobby McGee’s. We shower and get dressed. I put on a pair of pantyhose, a pair of nice tight fitting jeans and high heel clogs, a skimpy black shirt and wow, Good to go. I looked great. (you know how you feel after you have lost weight) You put on clothes you could not wear before and you look good.
Bobby McGee’s was wonderful. All the servers dress in costumes and are great. They take on the role of the person they are dressed as and I remember one of our servers was Mae West. She was good to, telling jokes and talking like Mae West. I had a few drinks but not to many. The food was delicious. The lobster tail was the best I have ever eaten. What a great last night to have here. After we had eaten and went back to our hotel I just simply got undressed and went to bed.
OK time to get up and fly home, Let me see, what shall I wear? Oh yes those tight jeans from last night and a shirt, good to go. I did not have them on long enough to get dirty and I looked hot. So I put on a pair of panty hose, jeans shirt, good to go.
At the airport I am on my own. My companion has a different flight home.
You know it takes forever and a day to get to your gate. Well here I am this
good looking woman walking and walking. People keep giving me some kind of odd look. I am thinking what is wrong with me? Am I unbuttoned? nope all in. Is my pants Unzipped? Nope all good. People keep giving me these odd looks. I am thinking what the hell is wrong with me? I look good. What is up with these crazy looks I am getting. I am really feeling freaky now. Am I an Alien from outer space or what? This is California people are strange here. I keep getting these weird looks. Finally a man walks up behind me with his wife and tells me there is a pair of pantyhose trailing behind me.
Oh My God!!! No wonder these people where giving me these crazy looks.
The whole pair was trailing behind me with maybe a foot still left in my pant
leg. I reached down snatched it up and found the nearest bathroom to hide in. That poor man, his wife was horrified he told me I was dragging pantyhose behind me. She was pulling on his arm. Well thank you kind sir wherever you are. I was so embarrassed I just sat there in the bathroom. I was the last to board my flight and almost missed it. They were closing the gate when I finally pulled my head up. Think about it. You would be giving crazy looks to. Would you tell the person? Or just let them keep walking? I felt so stupid, SO embarrassed. Not much of anything has ever bothered me since then. I expect to see this in a movie some time.
What has been learned? Always check inside your pants before you put them on. Who knows what got left inside.

How Is Your New Years Resolution Coming Along?
Given up yet? Don’t you dare!!!! Have you fallen a few times? Get up, dust yourself off. Do not give up on your dreams or your goals. Be strong and do not give up. We are able to achieve any and everything we set our mind to. If we want it bad enough we can obtain it. Of course sometimes we get what we want only to find we really do not want it. So off we go on another path. But most of the time we simply give up and talk ourselves out of achieving what we set out after.
Motivate yourself and keep striving to move forward. Have Faith in yourself and ask for help and strength from a higher power. God is my higher power and Praise The Lord for he helps me daily. Set your goal. Now set smaller goals that lead to that goal. Each time you reach a goal embrace the great feeling and move on to the next goal. This is not easy. This is very hard. You can do it. You can do it. Make your thoughts focus on making it to the next level. With each step you take you become closer and closer to achieving your desire. Change does not come fast and easy. It takes time and hard work. You have to change your thinking , stay focused and take each step one at a time. And do not listen to anyone saying you can not do it. Continue on and get strength from within yourself and show you can do it. It helps to have a friend or loved one supporting you in your choices. What ever your New Years Resolution is, keep on moving on. You have almost made it through January. If Not start over. Do not give up. We will keep working and enjoying each step we take. If we Stumble and fall, get back up and move on. Sometimes a slower pace is needed, but keep on moving. It is always easy to give up and not try. But we feel like crap because we gave up.
Now come on . We can do it. Get moving and do not look back. Move forward and achieve your desire. For all those that have already gave up, you stand up and say, not me I am still on my new path. Be strong continue on. Feel the power of knowing you can obtain what you dream. In 2010 Let us begin on a new and better path. May God Bless us and give strength to all that ask. Walk with us Dear Lord and when we can no longer walk please carry us. And along the way may we dance every now and again to help keep us in step. Help us so we can help others in their time of need and help us all to succeed. AMEN

Truly amazing how quickly the years go by. I heard about a survey as to what to
call this new year.

What do think? I like twenty ten.
Looks like this new year is going to bring some very cold weather. That seems strange to me since I keep hearing so much about global warming. If this is the case why is it so cold? “Mother Nature” is the answer, and Mom has a mind of her own.
I am sure there will be many other changes this year. I am going to do the best I can in all my endeavors and try and keep a good outlook and positive attitude. Its always fun to see how long we can last with this new beginning before we crumble and go back to our old habits. Let us all vow to be better. Do better and last longer on this new path. Lets make the best choices we can. I know it is real hard on a lot of folks right now. Some have way to much and others have nothing. People are selling items that have been in their family for generations just to be able to eat and have a place to stay. Jobs are being lost in record numbers as unemployment reaches record levels in this country. Companies are moving their operations overseas as manufacturing levels drop to all time lows. China is thriving as they flood our market with goods made in factories that pay their employees what is little more than slave labor. What ever happened to high quality products made in our country by craftsmen who took pride in their work? The answer is simple “MONEY”, It just simply costs more to manufacture a product in this country. And until we Americans stop buying and supporting all these imported goods it will only get worse. If this does not stop and we don’t begin manufacturing products in this country again we are all going to be up a creek without a paddle. Buy American and help put our people back to work even if it costs a little more, the job you save may be your own.
Meanwhile in Washington Obama and his cast of idiots are debating health care reform and where to put terrorists from “Guitmo”. They are trying to force all Americans to purchase health care insurance or face a penalty, and best of all have this process handled by the “IRS”. We all no what a good job these people do!
How do you pay for health care insurance or any penalty when you are unemployed and worrying how your going to feed your family the next week or if your going to be homeless and out on the street.
As far as those terrorists go leave them where there at! You hear stories on the news all the time about they have rights and the cruel treatment they receive. When you hear this bull remember those people in the towers, the Pentagon, and all of planes these morons used as missiles to kill innocent Americans. Think of all the families who lost a loved one in this horrible act. Ask any soldier who is serving his country fighting these idiots in one of those “Crap Hole” countries. Ask anybody who has been in an Iraqi or Afghanistan prison about the humane treatment they received. As far as I am concerned they have got it much better than they deserve.

What???? How can such a thing Happen? Are we all asleep at the wheel? So wrapped up in ourselves we do not notice what is happening around us. Or is it we the people are just not heard anymore in this world of hunger,
greed and hate. It seems if some do not get their way, they are leaving and taking others with them. If any of you are so unhappy or mad please share your pain and be released of this evil grip that has you. No matter your religion, you know there is a higher power to pray to and help. For me it is God and My Saviour Jesus Christ. Seek help and rid evil thoughts. How selfish to harm others. But you know we cause pain to others every day. We kill with our words and think nothing of it because that person is still alive. We do not see or feel the pain we have caused, perhaps we choose to be blind. But the pain is still there. I feel the pain. Do YOU? How often do we say things we know will hurt, and say it anyway? To Many!!! Each Day may be our last. How do we know we will make it home again? We all need to wake up and live life to the fullest each day. Tell those you love, you love them. Show others some kindness with a smile and kind words Turn off that wonderful cell phone and talk to a real person. Eye contact. Pray and take a walk with God. Each day may be our last, make it count. The ones you love may not come home so what are you going to do?
May God Please Bless All the Families involved. May peace come to them soon. Please accept all in to your KINGDOM and heal all these hurting souls. Oh Father heal the wounded, body mind and soul. Bless us all that we can learn from this evil act and cast out the devil. Grant us the wisdom to help each other. By the Grace of God , please , Help us all to help each other. The paradox of our time in history is that we
have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways, but narrower
viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have
bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have
more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.
We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.
We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.
We’ve learned how to make a living, but not a life. We’ve added years to life not life to years. We’ve been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We’ve done larger things, but not better things.
We’ve cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul. We’ve conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We’ve learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.
These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small
character, steep profits and shallow relationships. These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill. It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stock room. A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete.
Remember; spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever.
Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side.
Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn’t cost a cent.
Remember, to say, ‘I love you’ to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.
Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again.
Give time to love, give time to speak! And give time to share the precious
thoughts in your mind.

Screwed By Hughes?
Hughesnet, Direcway, Direcpc Whatever you want to call it this week a Turd is a Turd and they all smell the same. With their poor performance and the worst customer service I have ever experienced there are actually a few things you can use them for that work (see pictures). Howard Hughes would be turning over in his grave if he knew what these idiots have done to his name with this lousy company. If you have any other choice for a internet service provider such as cable or dsl stay away from these turkeys. The problem is with us people who live out in the boonies we don’t have much of a choice. Dialup is to slow and often doesn’t work due to long runs and noisy lines, the only other choice if you can get a signal is a wireless card. This choice is fine if you just do e-mail and casual browsing but go past the usual 5 gig limit and you will go broke fast. Either way you go be it Hughesnet or wireless you won’t be watching any full length movies from Netflix or other movie providers. I think it is so wrong because you live in the country you are treated as second class citizens and can’t have fair access to such services at a reasonable prices like those city slickers.
